Why Is Lady Chattery Norah Chase Running?

Although the Patriot is generally comfortable with the Unity Slate headed by Dr. Rina Yarmish (a slate most certainly bound for victory in the upcoming KCC/PSC election), we are very disappointed and mystified as to why Lady Chattery Chase (the well-known chatterbox whose laughter and even conversation can be heard a mile away), is a part of this slate.

How Much Does She Want?

It appears that Lady Chattery Chase wants to run for everything and be everywhere (she could have learned this from the Queen of Released Time, Susan O'Malley). She is already on the Central PSC's Executive Committee. According to the PSC Constitution, this provides her with an automatic seat as an ex-officio member of the local chapter's Executive Committee. By grabbing this spot on the KCC/PSC Chapter slate, Lady Chattery Chase has denied a position to a deserving candidate from one of the departments not represented on the slate. This robs an opportunity for another point-of-view to be aired or for different perspective on issues to come before the Executive Committee.

Will the Real Lady Chattery Chase Please Stand Up?

Furthermore, we are concerned and curious, from which side of her mouth doth Lady Chattery Chase speaks? If you recall last year's Central PSC election between the Unity Caucus (Irwin Polishook) and the New Caucus (headed by Brooklyn College's Steve London), Lady Chattery Chase ran on Polishook's Unity slate, although she never categorically opposed London or the New Caucus on the campus.

In fact, when Steve London appeared on campus at the invitation of Chapter Chair Susan O'Malley (who had run on the Polishook slate only a year earlier and was now stabbing Dr. Polishook in the back), Lady Chattery Chase was seen seated prominently in the front row and was honored by being allowed to ask the first question . . . and the second . . . and the third . . . and on, and on. All the while, the Editor of the Patriot and many others who wanted to raise critical issues, waited forty-five minutes with their hands in the air before any of them were recognized.

With all the attention paid by Steve London to Lady Chattery Chase, many wondered if she had been planted there by London himself! Which looked even worse since Lady Chattery Chase was part of the opposition slate! Why was she even at this meeting? Does anyone know who the real Lady Chattery Chase is? We believe that she was and even now wants to be on both sides of the fence, and has been trying very hard to be in the good graces of both Polishook and the New Caucus's London.

Our sage advice for the upcoming election:

We don't have to tell you,
we KNOW you will use your best judgment.
