WHY DO BARBARA BOWEN AND STEVE
LONDON WANT US TO GO ON STRIKE?
BOTH WANT TO JOIN
LYNNE STEWART AND MOHAMMED YOUSRY
IN PRISON

      At the urging of Barbara Bowen and Steven London, the PSC Delegate Assembly voted to authorize a strike. They idolize such criminals as Lynne Stewart and Mohammed Yousry, who conspired with Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Similar to Stewart and  Yousry who knew that  conspiring with the Sheikh   would certainly be punished  by years of imprisonment, both Barbara Bowen and Steven London know that violation of the New York's  Taylor law will most likely land them both in prison. Why are they then agitating to strike? We believe that Bowen and London have a desire to join Comrade Stewart and Brother Yousry in prison. They can keep them company, discuss measures to revive Marxist/Leninist ideology and instill their ideology in the minds and hearts of our young students in CUNY. After all, why did Bowen/London support Queens College Law students in honoring Stewart a few years ago? Why did Bowen spend so much of your dues money defending Yousry's part - time job, going to arbitration and losing? Why did she donate $5,000 of your dues money to a Fund to free Lori Berenson from a Peruvian prison - Lori who was arrested for collaborating with Marxist rebel Tupac Amaru and renting a house in Lima Peru which stored 8,000 rounds of ammunition and 3,000 sticks of dynamite? And why did she send, according to some, an undisclosed amount of your dues money to University of South Florida Professor Sami Al-Arian who was arrested by the FBI for using his office and stationery to raise money for Islamic Jihad?

       We also know that after discussion and debate, a wonderful, supportive Resolution On The Events of September 11, 2001 was adopted by the American Federation of Teachers Executive Council, consisting of 41 top leaders of the AFT and its affiliate unions, at its meeting on October 16, 2001. There was one disgraceful dissenting vote. The dissenting vote was cast by none other than Barbara Bowen. Knowing where the Bowen/London sympathies lie and their willingness to spend your money to support their ideological preference, would you be surprised that Bowen and London want to join Stewart and Yousry in prison?

IS THIS ANY WAY TO GET A DECENT CONTRACT?

BOYCOTT THE APRIL 19th RALLY & PICKET

       The leadership of the New Caucus and some idiotic members of the PSC who innocently join them are certainly wasting their time and our money, demonstrating in front of the Board of Higher Education, protesting at Board meetings, demonstrating against Mayor Bloomberg in front of City Hall and harassing Board members and the Chancellor by telephoning them at their offices. Actually, neither the Chancellor nor members of the Board are harassed, for they never answer any telephone calls directly from the public anyway. The people who are really harassed are the poor secretaries and members of DC 37, our sister Union. They have to take these nuisance calls and messages which land in the garbage at the end of the day. On April 19, the lunatics are asking you to march in front of Chairman Schmidt's office in your caps and gowns. Please do not be surprised if in the not-too-distant future, Bowen and London move their protests to the front yards of the homes of Board Members, the Chancellor, and the Mayor - or if they start banging on the bathroom doors of these officials to express their displeasure. Where do these insane clowns stop? Is this any way to get a decent contract? WE STRONGLY URGE YOU TO BOYCOTT THIS RIDICULOUS DEMONSTRATION AT CHAIR SCHMIDT'S OFFICE ON APRIL 19TH.

IS THE UNION "DEFENSE" FUND A SCAM?

       On March 31, the Bowen/London gang of thugs conned the Delegate Assembly into establishing a Union Defense Fund, which - in the opinion of knowledgeable individuals - is nothing but a scam to get your money to spend on their causes: global social engineering as per Karl Marx. Barbara Bowen and Steven London think nothing of taking your money to pursue their social agenda which has nothing to do with the union business. Read the text of the resolution and you will find that they are "for now" asking you to voluntarily contribute; it will then become a payroll deduction; and then it will become a permanent deduction from your paycheck. This is above and beyond the 1.05% of your gross pay that they already take, regardless of your wishes. This "fund" will begin with modest contribution and will go on increasing, eventually taking a significant bite from your paycheck.

      We recommend that you DO NOT CONTRIBUTE OR GIVE ANY AUTHORIZATION FOR CHECKOFF TO THIS FUND.

YOU MAY HAVE A CASE AGAINST THE PSC

       Do you know that you can sue your union for keeping you in the dark by not providing you with a printed copy of the negotiated contract? As you know, the last contract was negotiated in the year 2002. But to the best of our knowledge, there has not been a single copy of the contract printed and distributed to our membership. We believe that this is a violation of our right to know, and as dues-paying members, we have a right to sue the officers of the union and the union itself for this neglect. Consult your lawyer, file a suit, go to PERB (the Public Employment Relations Board), to NLRB (the National Labor Relations Board), the New York Department of Labor and New York State Attorney General Elliot Spitzer. Explore all avenues and get the answers.
