PARTICIPATION, SOLIDARITY, AND ADVOCACY?

The No Action Caucus which has its motto "Participation, Solidarity, and Advocacy," could not get much participation at all. No more than 8 people on their slate, and most running for 2 positions each. Having one person running or 2 positions deprives Kingsborough of representation, since one person cannot have more than one vote, even if he or she occupies 2 seats. Susan O'Malley also wants to occupy 2 positions, and all the while she is planning to be on leave next year, leaving KCC with NO representation in those spots at all! "Participation"? Give me a break!

ERADICATE THE NO ACTION CAUCUS FOREVER

KCC Faculty should make no mistake. Susan O'Malley is on a mission, on the orders of Barbara Bowen, to take over the KCC campus for the New Caucus as revenge for Bowen's near defeat for the Presidency in the last year's Spring election. CUNY Alliance's 46% vote, just 4% shy of capturing the central PSC's leadership, was an eye-opener for the New Caucus gang. O'Malley was excoriated and told that she has not done her homework at KCC (of course, she's been AWOL for years!) As a punishment, she was demoted from University-Wide Officer to Community College Officer, a much lower rank in the union hierarchy. Now, we believe, she has an assignment: "Take over the KCC campus leadership or you are out of the PSC's Executive Committee," a loss of a chunk of Susan's released time. If Susan wins, she can keep her released time from the central PSC and also con young Patrick into sharing some of his released time with her. Know that the Queen of Released Time is running for this election not to serve you and the needs of KCC faculty, but for her own selfish interest.

WILL SHE BE AT KCC IN THE FALL?

World renowned Swami Vivekananda Upanideshi, adviser to such world leaders as Mrs. Indira Gandhi of India, Margaret Thatcher of Great Britain, and Bill Clinton of the USA has previously provided us with the roadmap for O'Malley's plans for near future (The Patriot Returns Vol 36. No.2). In our recent contact, he has confirmed that he sees O'Malley wandering around the English countryside in the Fall searching for something (Houses where Shakespeare slept) because the Moon is placed in Aquarius sixth house of O'Malley's yearly chart with planetary positions indicating her position on the European continent.

Members of KCC faculty need not wait too long to verify these predictions. Come September or even before, the news will be out that O'Malley has received a leave or Sabbatical for next year (hmmm.... away for 4 years, back 1 year teaching only 6 credits, then a leave or Sabbatical... why doesn't she just retire???)

PATRICK LLOYD, ADOLESCENT

BOWEN REJECTS LLOYD'S UNION EXPERIENCE?

If recent rude messages on the KCC listserve and his recent crude efforts to make himself known on the KCC campus are indicators, one may conclude that young assistant professor Patrick Lloyd writes like an angry adolescent and talks like a teenager. He needs to grow up and take lessons in anger management before running for Chapter leadership, a position that requires real personal empathy.

* His brief bio in his flyer with his Ozzy Osbourne look-a-like picture,

raises more questions than answers. He claims that he was an adjunct at Stevens Institute of Technology before coming to KCC. Why didn't he get a full time job at Stevens instead of coming to KCC? Stevens has a reputation for being a good engineering school offering Masters and Doctoral degrees. Are you a Stevens reject? What happened there?

* He claims that he was an activist in the Student Union in California and a member of the bargaining team. We do not know if this union existed, how large it was, and whether it even survived. He claims that he was "elected to the bargaining team, which attained the first contract for our (his) union." We know that he was one of eight members of that bargaining team, and as we all know it is not the members who negotiate the contract but the head honchos and hired lawyers. For all we know, this adolescent may have been sitting at a far distant corner of the negotiating table. Furthermore, no one knows if this contract was good or bad for the membership. What did the membership say about this contract? If his experience were anything to talk about, he would have been on Barbara Bowen's negotiating team. The fact that he was NOT, indicates that even his buddy Barbara found his experience wanting.

* The Peace and Justice committee Lloyd speaks of consists of eating early morning hefty breakfasts at the PSC, large hero sandwiches (paid for by your dues money) before the dancing, clowning, and blocking traffic for all the ills of the World, but NOT your needs, your prescription drugs, or your salary. From what we have seen, the convention experience generally consists of going with your spouse or partner to another location, say Hawaii or Las Vegas, for a short vacation. Check into the big, expensive hotel room reserved for you by PSC (courtesy of your union dues), go for an expensive lunch with cocktails, pick up a grand tour of the city, go to dinner and theater in the evening. Continue with this schedule for three to eight days. The only obligation you have is to be present at one meeting where they take attendance to make sure that you were there, so that you will be reimbursed for all your expenses for the trip. Patrick must be kidding, putting this down as his "experience" to become Chapter Chair. But then, what can you expect from an adolescent?

THE WELFARE FUND CANDIDATE

The Caucus which talks so much about diversity got only one minority member to run with them, not a member of the faculty, but an HEO, Wayne Harewood. We are puzzled as to why he is on this ticket in the first place. Is it because the HEO Chapter of the New Caucus rejected him? He talks about his experience on the KCC HEO Labor management Committee, but fails to tell us exactly what he did. We were astonished that our cursory inquiries showed that that committee never met with the KCC president. Then what, exactly, have they done? Answer: NOTHING! Some characterize Harewood as "do-nothing" bragger, and opportunist." Some did say that he is a nice guy, but not for this job. He may be good for Financial Aid but that does not make him good for the Welfare Fund.

As for Jack Arnow, his wife Eleanor Arnow (Bader) and Bob Putz, we would like to wish them good luck in their leisurely life style of Yoga, NYSUT and AFT conventions (courtesy gifts from Barbara Bowen - free vacations) and attendance at PSC anti-war rallies. But please. Don't worry. You will not have to deal with the faculty. After all, you have not done anything for yourselves for all these years. So why should you be troubled to do anything for others in the future?

As for the other candidates, we believe they are silent partners who did not know what they were getting into, and whom they were associating with. We believe that they wish this was over and that they will never have to deal with people like O'Malley and Lloyd again.

BALLOT ALERT

We respect the American Arbitration Association's long-standing reputation for accuracy in mailing ballots, honesty in vote counting and staying impartial in contested elections. We also firmly believe that they will not be influenced a bit by the fact that they are getting thousands of dollars of business from Barbara Bowen of the PSC. However, just to be on the safe side, we advise members of the KCC/PSC Chapter to make copies of their completed ballots before placing them in envelopes for mailing. Keep your copy in  your safe deposit box or mail it to the Patriot Office at P.O. Box 290713, Brooklyn, N.,Y. 11229 and we will keep it in our safe deposit box. You never know when and how it will come in handy.

THE RUMOR COLUMN

YOUR DUES AT WORK
A DAY OUT WITH COMRADES

According to unconfirmed reports, PSC President Battling Barb Bowen, Vice President Foggy London, Community College Queen of Released Time, and other officers gave up their afternoon naps, necessitated by a tiring contract negotiation session with "nasty" CUNY management, to attend a demonstration in front of Senator Joe Lieberman's Connecticut home last Easter Sunday, to oppose his support for fighting terrorists. In an effort to avoid pollution, they hired 300 pedicabs peddled by Serfs, and began their journey from Manhattan to Connecticut at 7 a.m. to be on time for the noon start of the event. They stocked each pedicab with bottled water as symbol of strength and solidarity of the proletariat (we guess Serfs are not proletariat) against Pepsi, Coca Cola, and other unhealthy drinks made by the bourgeoisie. On their return trip, they had a wonderful picnic in Pehlam Park under the open sky with Donkey sandwiches and nonalcoholic fruit juices. A WONDERUL DAY OUT WITH OUR DEAR COMRADES, ON YOUR DUES MONEY.
