THE
PATRIOT
RETURNS

       Vol. 58, No.3 - May 08,2012

DEAR LEADER,
SAVIOR OF THE MASSES!!!

BECOME AN AGENCY FEE PAYER, SAVE 24% OF YOUR DUES MONEY AND ENJOY THE SAME BENEFITS AS UNION MEMBERS

Objecting to ideological expenditures must be done in the month of MAY

*Those who object to the PSC's expenditures for ideological activities that are unrelated to contract issues can get a portion of their payments to the union rebated.

*To do so, a union member must do two things:

1) file a written request with the PSC to become an agency fee payer. This can be done at any time.

2) file a letter during the month of May objecting to ideological expenditures.

(NOTE: Agency fee payers enjoy the same job benefits as union members.)

*Someone who is already an agency fee payer need only file a letter during the month of May objecting to ideological expenditures.

*For your protection, send each letter “Return Receipt Requested”
AND
simultaneously write an email to Barbara Bowen (bbowen@pscmail.org) stating that the letter was sent and reproducing its content. (Return Receipts aren't evidence of content, but an email is.)

The letter should include the following statement:

"I write as an agency fee payer to register my objection to the expenditure of any part of my union fee in aid of activities or causes of a political or ideological nature only incidentally related to terms and conditions of employment. Please remit to me my portion of those expenditures."

*NOTE: Agency fee payers need only write one letter objecting to political expenditures and a refund or pre-bate comes automatically each year thereafter.

*The full procedure for objectors is outlined on the PSC website, although they make it hard to find. But here's the link to the procedures: http://www.psc-cuny.org/agency-fee-refund-procedures
